Your Mission as Lead Architectural Designer
The primary purpose of this role is to develop overall architectural concepts of design projects, from design through construction. You will work one-on-one with Design Clients, Sales, Project Developer(s) and Production to ensure client goals are met during the design process. You will ensure accurate completion of the design within the required timeframe in order to meet production demands, as well as support the final sale of a construction agreement. Our ultimate goal is to create happy clients.
 
Lead Architectural Designer’s Schedule and Location
You will be working a flexible full-time schedule out of our company offices in Fairfax, with occasional meetings at client job sites in Northern Virginia.
 
Lead Architectural Designer’s Duties and Responsibilities
General and Ongoing:
  • Through a team approach, achieve superior client satisfaction
  • Meet designated project timelines
  • Meet or exceed overall company volume goals
  • Maintain relationships with clients and staff to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Provide weekly updates on project status to the team
  • Assist in identifying policy and procedure upgrades to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Mentor Design Assistant
  • Manage REVIT templates and design-related checklists
  • Participate in ongoing training to improve skills
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • This position reports to the Design Manager
 
During Design:
  • Perform duties of Design Project Lead for assigned design clients:
    • Coordinate Design Team effort to ensure timely and accurate completion of:
      • All design work and drawings
      • Selections
    • Schedule and oversee design-related meetings
    • Delegate and managed delegated workload as appropriate to ensure on-time and accurate completion of all portions of design
  • Prepare or assign drafting of the following for all architectural projects:
    • As-build drawings
    • Presentation drawings
    • Trade Walk drawings
    • Contract drawings
    • Interior and detail elevations as needed
    • Permit Sets
    • Construction Sets
  • Prepare take-offs and initial quotes for all required materials
  • Obtain or coordinate required structural permitting
During Production:
  • Assist Production Department as needed during construction
  • Attend or coordinate attendance of Electrical Walk, Tile Walk and weekly meetings as needed
  • Assist Client as requested by Production
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of residential design experience
  • Two (2) years of experience developing permit documents, including structural
  • Ideally, the candidate should have two (2) years of Design/Build experience
  • Ideally, the candidate should have one (1) years of REVIT drafting experience

Salary and Other Compensation
  • We offer a salary of $60,000 to $80,000, depending upon experience
