YOUR MISSION:
 
As a Medical Assistant, you will assist the practitioner in his daily duties, including the management of communications to and from patients who have seen him for a consultation and need to have further questions answered, or need to be directed on their treatment steps.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • You will be directly assisting the doctor by answering questions, emails and phone calls from patients, and providing them with the answers from their practitioner. You would also be assisting the doctor in specific support functions (which you would be trained on) in his consultations with patients as needed.
  • This position requires compassion in dealing with patients, an ability to understand them and communicate well with them as the doctor’s assistant. An ability to use computers, multitask, read patients charts and answer their questions as directed by the doctor.
  • This position also requires a strong ability to understand medical terminology, read, write, type and use computers. Training will take place on the exact functions and duties involved.
  • Office hours are from 8:45am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Staff meeting is at 8:00am on Tuesdays and on Fridays we close at 4:00pm. However as a Medical Assistant it does sometimes require staying late if the practitioner is running behind with patients and will need assistance in a consultation. Thus, youmust be able to have a flexible schedule.
 
REQUIRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Phlebotomy experience,
  • Good computer use,
  • Great Communication skills with patients,
  • You need very good administrative and organizational skills,
  • Willingness to learn new tests as needed,
  • Ability to read and write clearly in English.
 
REQUIRED PERSONALITY AND BEHAVIORAL CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Good communication skills,
  • Ability to interact with patients on the phone or by computer,
  • Medical assistant training along with good multitasking and organization skills.
  • Good duplication of recommendations is vital; you must understand well what is needed from the doctor or office manager and do that exactly – and also understand the patients.)

PLANNED SALARY:

Depending on your experience and performance record, we offer a salary of $11.50 to $12.50 per hour, plus additional, performance-based bonuses. There are opportunities for increased wages based on performance.
