Haven Animal Hospital was established in 1993 – 25 years of providing excellence in veterinary care to the tri-cities community. We have a 3600 sq. ft. free standing building that was built specifically as a veterinary hospital. We have digital radiology, digital dental radiology, full pharmacy, full in-house lab, laser therapy, electronic patient monitoring, and ultrasound. We are computerized and are paper light. The city of Grand Haven is on the shores of Lake Michigan and offers excellent schools as well as exceptional recreational opportunities and community activities.

Our difference: We practice very progressive veterinary medicine and pursue continuing education opportunities for the entire staff. Our equipment and facility are up to date and we are always looking at new technology, medications and treatment modalities. We work very hard to produce and maintain a positive and upbeat clinic culture, recognizing and celebrating our staffs and our client’s achievements. We have an excellent support staff with a 4:1 staff to DVM ratio. We have a very organized management system in which every individual on staff holds key roles in production and management.

You will provide compassionate and progressive veterinary medicine to our clients. You will work a 40-hour week, staying late or arriving early if case load requires it. We deliberately schedule the associates for about 35 hours to allow for any additional time they may have to spend at work. All records are expected to be current and completed daily. You will also reach out to the clients for follow up as needed and to participate in team building exercises, community out-reach, and marketing events. Professional appearance and conduct are expected at all times.

  • We schedule 15-minute appointments throughout the day.
  • You will examine, prescribe, treat and perform surgeries. We schedule surgeries typically in a block of time to avoid time pressures while in surgery.
  • All in patient cases are to be examined and a medical history produced with a plan each morning prior to beginning appointments.
  • We are open until 8 pm two nights per week and you would be working at least one of these late days.
  • We are open on Saturday mornings and you would be working these on a rotating basis with the other associate.
  • We are not on call for emergencies.
  • You are expected to contact clients for follow up in specific cases.
  • It is expected that you will practice medicine that is in-line with our standard of care.
  • A DVM degree and Michigan license and USDA accreditation are required.
  • While experience is desired it is not essential.
  • A confident, hard-working individual is essential.
  • You should be competent to practice with minimal oversight; however, the owner and other
    associate are available to mentor.
  • Focused on quality care and excelling at assuring client satisfaction.
  • High level of enthusiasm is a MUST.  We work in a very busy environment.  We want to have fun.

Based on your experience and performance record, we offer a yearly salary of between $80K and well over $100K, including performance-based bonuses. The clinic provides $1000 per year for CE. We cover license and membership fees in arrears. The first year there is one week of PTO, after 3 years there is 2 weeks of PTO, after 5 years there is 3 weeks of PTO.

NOTE: A sign-up bonus of $10,000 is offered for this position. The conditions will be discussed during an interview with the practice owner.
